Conditions or Reasons:The James Fuller Arboriculture Report (JFA0107) included within the application provides a detailed inspection of the tree including a full internal Tomograph and Resistograph Investigation. It is from this investigation that extensive internal decay has been found and illustrated. The decay present has compromised the structural integrity of the tree and poses an unacceptable level of risk to person and property.

Alternative management and pruning of this tree has been considered, however given the extent of decay present, alternative work is not suitable and would not be sufficient to reduce the risk of failure down to an acceptable level.

The removal and replacement of this tree is considered the most suitable management option.
A total of 1 replacement tree selected from the following species: Cedar, Copper Beech, Tulip or Wellingtonia are to be planted before 31/03/2018 within the curtilage of Sway Manor, Station Road, Sway in the same vicinity as the original tree. The replacement tree is to be of minimum stock size 8-10cm girth at 1m above ground level when planted.

If within a period of 2 years from the date of planting the tree (or any other tree planted in replacement for it) is removed, uprooted, destroyed or dies, another tree of the same size and species shall be planted in the same place or in accordance with a variation for which the Local Authority give their written consent.

REASON: To ensure that any loss of amenity through the removal of trees is mitigated for future generations and to preserve the character of the local area.
Decision:Cedar (marked as T1 on the application and included within TPO/0038/14 as T7) - Fell to ground level.
